37,108 finishers!

March 6th 2016

Once again you proved that running was a convivial sport, whether you were on your own or with friends. There had undoubtedly never been a warmer atmosphere in both the start and the finish area of the Fitbit Semi de Paris, with a historical number of women in the heart of the pack. And now it’s time to recover: you have really deserved it!

36% of women among the entrants

There had never been as many women at the start of the capital's half-marathon. Representing 36% of entrants (+2% versus 2015). Christelle Daunay, the current European marathon champion, commented on this figure with a smile: “I am thrilled. Women must continue competing and enjoy themselves while running.”

1:09:58 for Christelle Daunay

Christelle Daunay, who is the French record holder on the half-marathon distance (1:08:34), started her season on the Fitbit Semi de Paris. Already qualified for the Rio Olympics, she covered the 21.1km in 1:09:58. “I gave it my all and that's what counts," she said several seconds after crossing the finish line.

Gebreselassie put on a show

Were you lucky enough to cross Gebre? Haile Gebreselassie, the two-time Olympic 10,000m champion and former marathon world record holder (2:03:59), gave the starting signal of the Fitbit Semi de Paris. He was also present in the Village as well as at the finish line. The Ethiopian champion, who has now retired, was incredibly patient and readily allowed hundreds of competitors to take selfies with him all weekend long.

THERE WERE 37,480 OF YOU!

March 6th 2016

New participation record: there were 37,480 of you at the start of the Fitbit Semi de Paris. Congratulations to all of you who criss-crossed the streets and avenues to the east of the capital with the winter sun shining brightly overhead. Throughout the 21.1km, spurred on by the energy of East Paris, you surpassed yourself, demonstrating your amazing collective spirit.

A Kenyan victory in the men’s category and an Ethiopian victory in the women's category

  • The Kenyan Cybrian Kotut was the winner in the men’s category in a time of 1:01:04. It was his first win in Europe. “This race was one of my objectives for the beginning of my season,” he said delightedly. “I was well prepared. Now I'm going to focus on the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris.”
